The Flu Season List

I wrote earlier this week about our troubles with a stomach bug. We’re not being tortured anymore, but we are still feeling sorta crumby. My oldest is still complaining, too, and won’t go back to preschool this week.

This is the first time both parents in this house have been sick at the same time. Not to be a negative Nancy, but the fatigue is getting us down, more than I would have expected.

So, I’m working on this list. A list of stuff to keep stocked in that empty cabinet above my fridge and not to be taken out until the next plague. In no particular order and not including the standard OTC meds:

  • Chicken soup
  • Ginger-ale
  • Saltines
  • Goldfish (for the kids)
  • Raisins (for the kids)
  • Sugar cereal (for the kids)
  • Juice boxes (for the kids)
  • Biscoff cookies (for me)
  • Cash for pizza (for the uninfected!)
  • Peppermints
  • Pedialite
  • Chlorox wipes
  • “Wet ones” antibacterial wipes (for cleaning hands and faces “on location” when necessary)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Those little single use toothbrush thingies… (For when you need to brush your teeth but can’t muster the strength to get out of bed.)
  • A waterproof “sheet” (like they sell in the baby section for under the crib sheets or under the car seat… It’s flocked with a cottony substance and machine washable. So useful!)
  • Lip balm
  • Pull-ups
  • Old towels
  • Bedside buckets
  • Any other ideas?

Today, I’m just keeping off my feet, turning on the kids cartoons, and hoping some rest will get me well in time for my weekend plans! Stay healthy everybody!
